Jonna Schuler - Past-President

Family Information:
My husband, Shane, and I have been married for 26 years.  We are both originally from Storm Lake, Iowa.  We were not high school sweethearts but started dating when we attended Iowa State University where we graduated in the fall of 1987.   We have two daughters, Paige, who is a sophomore at Iowa State majoring in Industrial Engineering with a Spanish Minor.  Our youngest daughter, Brooke, is a senior at Pleasant Valley High School and is very involved in cheerleading, the Sparkles Squad, and girl’s golf.  She is undecided where she will go to college but you can bet ISU will be a contender. My husband works at ALCOA as the Sheet Finishing Lead Area Manager.  We both enjoy being active.  I love hot yoga, walking, swimming, traveling and wine.  Shane is an avid runner and plays basketball weekly with friends.

Employment Information:
I work as a Senior Account Executive at iHeart Media in the Quad Cities.  I have been in radio sales for over 25 years and at the same employer so I guess you could call me loyal.  Over the years I have helped hundreds of advertisers achieve their goals increasing sales, improving brand identification and overall company profitability.  I have also made many lifelong friends.
My Rotary Story:
I first joined rotary in 2010 and consider myself a legacy member.  I can’t remember a time in my life that didn’t include Rotary.  I watched my father, Richard Botine, take pride in belonging to the organization in my home town of Storm Lake, Iowa for over 50 years.  I believe that being an involved member of his club has been one of his proudest moments.  My older brother also became a member and both are past presidents.  This kind of enthusiasm was passed on to me when my father encouraged me to look for a chapter in the Quad Cities.  I attended three other clubs before I finally attended the Bettendorf noon club.  I have to admit I knew immediately that I had found where I belonged.

I jumped right in my and helped captain a Rotary team for the Run with Carl.  This helped me get to know a lot of members from our club.  I also volunteered to be a greeter may times at the club my first two years and would love to see this brought back during my term as president.  I served as the co-chair of the Lobsterfest donations committee for 4 years and helped secure sponsorships this past year.  I was thrilled when asked to accept a position on the board and continue my family’s legacy.
