Chelsea Powers
2012-2013 President-Elect
Family
Information
I have been married to my husband, Ryan
Powers, for 4 years. Two years ago, we were blessed with a handsome and
energetic son, Kellen, who definitely keeps us on our toes! When we are not
chasing our son around, Ryan and I enjoy golfing, exercise, cheering on the
Iowa Hawkeyes and hanging out with our family and friends.
Work
Information
I currently work at Holmes Murphy &
Associates as a Clients Service Executive in the Employee Benefits
Division. Holmes Murphy is a premier
independent risk management and insurance brokerage firm. We make a difference
by promoting health, protecting wealth, and delivering peace of mind.
My
Rotary Story
I first joined Rotary in 2008, thanks to my
sponsor, Mark Ross. I wanted to be involved in a service club that not only
made a positive impact in the community, but one that I could have fun at! I
found my place at Bettendorf Rotary. Shortly after I joined, I was approached
to serve on the Bettendorf Rotary Board and I gladly accepted. Serving on the
Board over the past 4 years has been such a rewarding experience! I have met so
many caring and wonderful people and have learned a tremendous amount about
Rotary.
My
Rotary Involvement
Since joining Rotary, I have had the
opportunity to become involved in various projects. I served as the Run with
Carl Rotary Club Representative for 4 years, as well as assisting in the
development of our Rotary in Motion Challenge, held every summer. In addition
to serving on the Board, I co-chair the Marketing and Events Committee with
fellow Rotarian, Chris Glass. With the assistance of our AMAZING Committee, we
launched an award-winning website that has brought more positive attention to
the wonderful projects our Club sponsors. This past year, we also launched our
Facebook page, which increases popularity everyday. This year I am taking on a
new role as co-chair of our Club’s Signature Event, Lobsterfest, which I am
very excited about!
I am truly honored to be a Board Member of the Bettendorf Rotary and
Club President for the 2013-2014 term. During my term I plan to focus on the
following items:
- Assist with succession Planning of our Club
- Encourage Family Events within our Club
- Increase our Club’s Visibility throughout Community Events
- Encourage Young Professionals to join our Club
I am proud to be a Rotarian, especially a
Bettendorf Rotarian, and I am excited to see what amazing things our Cub will
accomplish over the next few years!
