In the spirit of "Service Above Self", Bettendorf Rotarians recently joined the City of Bettendorf's downtown XSTREAM CLEANUP, contributing to a community-wide effort to beautify our city. The event drew over 100 volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to cleaning streets parking lots, and parks in the downtown area.
Among those representing Rotary were Penny McGimpsey and Joe Pacha, who took on the challenge of cleaning under and alongside the new I-74 bridge. Penny shared, "Joe Pacha and I filled up THREE huge garbage bags this afternoon!" Their commitment is a perfect example of how Rotary members quietly and consistently take action to improve their communities.
Mitch Dietrich and his wife Dara also volunteered their time during the cleanup, demonstrating that service is often a family affair for those involved in Rotary.
Rotary's mission tis to provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through fellowship of business, professional and community leaders.
By participating in local events like the XTREAM CLEANUP, Bettendorf Rotarians are not only caring for their local environment, but also strengthening the bonds within our community.
Notably, the environment is one of Rotary International's seven areas of focus, reflecting a global commitment to protecting natural resources and promoting sustainable practices. Bettendorf Rotary's hands-on involvement in the XTREAM CLEANUP is a local reflection of that broader mission.
Whether it's cleaning up city streets or supporting global initiatives, Bettendorf Rotary continues to embody the Rotary motto - Service Above Self - one meaningful project at a time.
